Viento de Panamá (6’)

Program Notes:

This piece was commissioned by Panamanian clarinetist Fabio Sánchez and was inspired by the poem “Patria” by Ricardo di Miró about longing for Panamá from afar. It explores ideas of belonging: the feelings of being inside and outside of a culture, and also the idea that home is not a physical place, but is made up of all of the memories we carry with us wherever we go.
